Because of his tiredless work, the town of St. Anthony has establishd a museum in his honour.

Dating back to 1000 A.D., L'Anse Aux Meadows is the home of one of the greatest archeoligical discoveries in the area. Artifacts from a Norse settlement as well as remnents of a Viking community were uncovered. Legend has it the Vikigns defended this outpost against local natives until hazards became too great and they had no choice but return to Greenland.
